When one thinks of California, thoughts naturally turn to celebrities lounging poolside as they enjoy the beautiful weather. However, for a state currently in the grips of a harsh drought, that poolside lifestyle seems to be under fire. Some communities have already placed moratoriums on new pool construction, and homeowners who already have pools are feeling the heat as well from neighbors who see them as a waste. When people are ripping up lawns and private wells are drying up, there is no way a pool owner can avoid being looked at sideways.

But pool owners and those in the pool industry are fighting against the popular perception of them as a waste of water as California faces a third straight summer of drought conditions.
